Former Liberal politician Bruce Billson has been appointed to the Australian Property Institute board. He represented the division of Dunkley in Victoria from 1996 to 2016 and was also Minister for Small Business for two years until 2015. Billson is director of small business and enterprise at Deakin University’s Business School and chair of the Deakin/The Institute of Public Accountants SME Research Centre Advisory Council. He is also a non-executive director of Judo Capital and chair of both the audit and remuneration committees.
Consumer finance company Thorn Group has appointed Peter Lirantzis as its new chief executive. He joins from Illuminate Search & Consulting where he held the role of chief experience officer. Prior to that he was chief advisor at ActionX and chief operating officer at FlexiGroup. Lizrantzis’ appointment comes after the previous announcement that current chief executive Tim Luce had notified his intention to resign. Luce will continue working with the board and Lirantzis to ensure a smooth transition.
The Australian Financial Complaints Authority has appointed Rob Guest as executive general manager, customer service and resolution. Guest joins from Metro Trains Melbourne where he was most recently director of customer experience. Prior to that he was manager of human resources and workforce development at Racing Victoria.
ClearView Wealth has appointed Judilyn Beaumont as the group’s general counsel. She joins from Suncorp where she held a number of roles including executive manager legal – insurance. Prior to this she was a senior associate at Herbert Smith Freehills and a solicitor at Blake Dawson (now Ashurst). Beaumont will also take on the role of company secretary.
Heather Gyton Carroll has joined Janus Henderson as head of marketing Australia. She will be based in Sydney and will report to Matt Gaden, head of Australia, and Geraldine Walsh, head of Asia Pacific marketing. Carroll joins from Perpetual Investments where she was head of marketing. Prior to that, she was head of marketing at Colonial First State Global Asset Management.
Wealth management platform provider Powerwrap has announced the appointment of Fiona Boyd as a director. She replaces Donna Hardman who has resigned for personal reasons. Boyd is currently the chief executive of cloud-based technology company ipSCAPE. Prior to this she was chief executive of Head Over Heels, a program focused on increasing the representation of women entrepreneurs.
